Todd Power

Piano Teacher | Accompanist | Program Manager

Biography

Todd Power is a pianist, accompanist, and music educator with deep ties to the Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music. Having begun piano lessons at the Conservatorium at the age of five, Todd returned to the organisation in 2013 after completing tertiary studies in music performance and audio engineering. Today he combines teaching, performance, and leadership roles to support the Conservatorium’s vibrant musical community.

As a piano teacher, Todd works with students of all ages and levels, from beginners establishing strong musical foundations through to advanced students preparing for examinations and performances. His teaching emphasises the development of well-rounded musicianship, integrating technical skill, musical understanding, theory, and aural training. Todd regularly prepares students for AMEB examinations and works closely with senior students undertaking HSC Music courses, helping them refine both performance and interpretive skills. Through this approach, he aims not only to develop confident performers but also to foster a lifelong love of music.

Alongside his teaching, Todd is an active accompanist, collaborating with instrumentalists and singers across the region for concerts, examinations, and competitions. His experience working with students in performance contexts allows him to guide young musicians in developing the musical awareness and confidence required for successful public performance.

Todd is also highly active as a conductor and ensemble director within the Conservatorium. He currently directs and sings as part of the Tamworth Chamber Singers and conducts the Tamworth Con Community Orchestra (TCCO), working with musicians of diverse ages and experience levels to build ensemble skills and musical collaboration. Beyond the Conservatorium, he has served as Convenor of Music for the City of Tamworth Eisteddfod Society since 2016, supporting one of the region’s most significant performance opportunities for young musicians.

Todd is also the Musical Director of CAPERS, a large-scale performing arts program presented by the NSW Arts Unit that brings together more than 1,500 public school students from across the North West region for a major arena-style performance every two years.

A passionate advocate for community music-making, Todd has also built a strong reputation as a musical director in regional theatre. His credits with Tamworth Musical Society include Musical Director for Shrek (2023), Rent (2023), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (2019), and Rock of Ages (2017), as well as Assistant Musical Director for productions including Legally Blonde (2025), Chicago (2022), Sweeney Todd (2022), Wicked (2016), and Sunset Boulevard (2015).

Through his combined work as performer, musical director, and educator, Todd is committed to strengthening music education and performance opportunities across regional New South Wales.
