The Vocal Performance Ensemble (VPE) is designed for singers aged 13 to 18 who are keen to develop their vocal technique, musicality, and performance confidence in a supportive ensemble setting. The group explores a wide-ranging repertoire that includes classical, contemporary, and popular vocal music, offering both challenge and variety.
Rehearsals focus on refining core vocal skills such as breath control, tone production, diction, and phrasing. Students also develop ensemble skills including blending, harmonising, and following a conductor, enabling them to contribute to a cohesive and polished group sound.
VPE performs regularly throughout the year at major Conservatorium and community events, including the Tamworth Eisteddfod, Showcase Concert, and A Conservatorium Christmas. These performances provide valuable real-world experience, helping students build stage confidence, musical responsibility, and professional performance habits.
The ensemble also offers important social benefits. Students rehearse alongside like-minded peers, fostering a sense of belonging, teamwork, and shared achievement. Through collaborative music-making, members develop both musical and interpersonal skills in a positive and encouraging environment.
The Vocal Performance Ensemble provides a strong pathway for young singers seeking consistent performance opportunities and ongoing vocal development.
Vocal Performance Ensemble rehearses on Tuesdays from 5–6 pm at the Conservatorium
Rehearsals are directed by Brookie Gillett
