Piano and keyboard study provides one of the most comprehensive and transferable foundations in music education. At the Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music, our Piano & Keyboard program supports students from early childhood through to adulthood, with carefully structured lessons that develop technique, musical literacy, coordination, and expressive playing.

Students learn to read notation, understand rhythm and harmony, and develop secure hand coordination while exploring repertoire from classical, contemporary, pop, film, and jazz traditions. Lessons are individually tailored, allowing students to work toward personal goals such as playing for enjoyment, preparing for examinations, supporting school music study, or pursuing advanced performance pathways.

The Conservatorium’s teaching studios are equipped with quality acoustic pianos, enabling teacher and student to play together and model sound, touch, and technique. Digital keyboards are also incorporated where appropriate. Piano students benefit from a balanced approach that integrates technical exercises, repertoire, sight-reading, and musicianship skills, supporting steady and confident progress.
