Roads We Travel

Chapel Theatre | Wednesday, 9 September @ 11 am

Where the rhythm goes, the music follows

Music moves – across borders, between people, and through time – and Roads We Travel invites students to follow that journey. Presented by Musica Viva Australia in Schools, this lively, interactive performance explores how rhythm and melody link cultures around the world.

Led by a dynamic trio of multi-instrumentalist music educators, the show brings together percussion, strings, and woodwinds inspired by folk and regional traditions. Students don’t just watch; they take part. Through body percussion, call-and-response, shared rhythms, and group improvisation, everyone becomes part of the music – no instruments required.

What is Musica Viva Australia In Schools?

In 2026, the Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music is proud to once again host Musica Viva In Schools (MVIS), bringing one of the nation’s most trusted and dynamic music education programs to our region.

Musica Viva In Schools offers far more than a concert. Through interactive, curriculum-linked performances by some of Australia’s finest musicians, students experience a rich tapestry of musical styles and cultural traditions. The program is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and engagement, while also supporting teachers with high-quality learning tools.

Each booking includes at least a term’s worth of digital teaching and learning resources, aligned to all national and state curricula. Teachers also receive access to online professional development webinars, offering practical guidance on using the resources and insights from the musicians themselves.

What’s it Cost?

By participating in a concert hosted at TRCM, schools receive a heavily subsidised student ticket price of $5 per student (standard price $10.50), making high-quality live music experiences more accessible for regional communities.

How Can Schools Book?

To streamline the booking process for schools attending a concert hosted by us, schools can complete an online registration form by visiting Jotform. Once submitted, the Tamworth Con will register your school with Musica Viva Australia on your behalf.

If your school indicates that students with Diverse Access Needs will be attending, Musica Viva Education will contact the school directly to discuss appropriate support and accessibility arrangements.
