Scholarships

The Conservatorium offers six competitive non-means-tested scholarships, as listed below.

The Scholarship recipient will receive one 30-minute lesson per week at the TRCM for the duration of the Conservatorium year, delivered by a Conservatorium-employed teacher. In return, the recipient will perform as a featured soloist at the annual Showcase & Presentation of Awards Concert.

Jean Grace Gray

Youth String Scholarship

Candidates must:

  • Be no more than 18 years of age by 31 December 2026, and
  • Perform two works of contrasting style by different composers of approximately AMEB Grade 4 level or above

Total performance time must not exceed 15 minutes

Jeff & Hazel Lee

Youth Piano Scholarship

Candidates must:

  • Be no more than 18 years of age by 31 December 2026, and
  • Perform two works of contrasting style by different composers of approximately AMEB Grade 4 level or above

Total performance time must not exceed 15 minutes

TRCM

Youth Instrumental Scholarship

Candidates must:

  • Be no more than 18 years of age by 31 December 2026, and
  • Perform two works of contrasting style by different composers of approximately AMEB Grade 4 level or above

Total performance time must not exceed 15 minutes

TRCM

Vocal Scholarship

Candidates must:

  • Be no more than 25 years of age by 31 December 2026, and
  • Perform two works of contrasting style by different composers by memory of approximately AMEB Grade 4 level or above

Total performance time must not exceed 15 minutes

TRCM

Junior Scholarship

Candidates must:

  • Be no more than 12 years of age by 31 December 2026,
  • Perform two works of contrasting style by different composers of approximately AMEB Grades 2 or 3, and
  • Have been enrolled in individual tuition at TRCM since the beginning of Term 1, 2026

Any instrument or voice type
Total performance time must not exceed 10 minutes

Daniel & Jo Sherwood

Rural Scholarship

Candidates must:

  • Be no more than 18 years of age by 31 December 2026,
  • Travel at least 45 km to have weekly face-to-face lessons at the Conservatorium,
  • Perform two works of contrasting style by different composers of any AMEB grade, and
  • Have been enrolled in individual tuition at TRCM since the beginning of Term 1, 2026

Any instrument or voice type
Total performance time must not exceed 15 minutes
