The Instrument Hire Program at Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music (TRCM) exists to ensure that every student has the
opportunity to participate fully in music education, regardless of whether a family is ready to purchase an instrument. By offering a
range of quality instruments for hire, the Conservatorium removes financial and practical barriers, allowing students to begin
learning, explore ensemble opportunities, and develop their skills with confidence. The program also supports students’ commitment to
regular lessons and ensemble participation, helping them engage more deeply with the musical life of the Conservatorium while fostering
responsibility for the care of shared instruments.
The following instruments are available to hire from the Conservatorium (subject to availability):
| Woodwind |
|
| Brass |
|
| Guitars |
|
| Strings |

Instrument hire is charged per school term. A refundable deposit is payable and will be returned once the instrument is returned to the Conservatorium in fully working order.
Current hire and deposit fees are available from the Conservatorium Office upon request.
The hired instrument remains in the student’s possession during school vacation periods for ongoing practice.
The hirer is responsible for the care, safe keeping, and proper maintenance of the hired instrument at all times. Only the student named on the Instrument Hire Agreement, and appropriate TRCM-employed teachers, are permitted to use the instrument.
The hirer accepts responsibility for any loss or damage incurred during the hire period.
All repairs must be arranged through TRCM. Where this condition is breached, the hirer remains responsible for the cost of rectifying any unsatisfactory repair work.
All repair costs are the responsibility of the hirer, regardless of the cause of damage.
The Conservatorium strongly recommends that families insure the instrument against damage, theft, or loss.
To remain eligible for instrument hire, the student must:
Upon cessation of lessons, the instrument must be returned to the Conservatorium Office within seven (7) days. Failure to return the instrument within this timeframe will result in the hirer being charged an additional term’s hire fee. Failure to return the instrument at all after 30 days will result in the hirer being invoiced for the full replacement cost.
